I've been to many places, so recalling them all is challenging. But one destination that always sticks out in my mind is O’ahu Island. It's one of the most popular islands in Hawaii, and for a good reason - it’s home to Honolulu, the most visited city in the United States. O’ahu offers an abundance of island bliss at every turn, and here are some of my top recommendations for places to visit on the island.

A trip to O’ahu would not be complete without a visit to the famous Waikiki Beach. This beautiful stretch has been a favorite among travelers for generations. Surrounded by towering hotels, lively restaurants, and boutiques, the beach offers plenty of activities like surfing, sunbathing, shopping, or just admiring the stunning views of the Diamond Head crater in the distance.

The Diamond Head State Monument is at the eastern end of Waikiki, a 300,000-year-old volcanic crater. The summit hike is moderate, and the stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area make it worth the effort.

Down the trail there are food vendors that sells snacks and refreshments.

If you're in Honolulu, visiting Pearl Harbor is a must-do. It is the site where the infamous attack occurred on December 7, 1941. You can pay tribute to the fallen heroes of World War II at the USS Arizona Memorial and the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum. The exhibits are interactive and educational, providing a glimpse into the events that changed the course of history.

Hanauma Bay is a marine sanctuary, and nature preserve on the southeastern coast of Oahu. It is an excellent location for snorkeling in Hawaii, as the crystal-clear waters, colorful coral reefs, and exotic fish make it a paradise for people interested in exploring the underwater world.

To ensure a smooth experience, it is recommended that you reserve your ticket online and arrive early, as parking tends to fill up quickly in the afternoon.

Take a beautiful hike to Lanikai Pillbox, a hidden gem located in the charming neighborhood of Lanikai. Along the lush trail, you'll see stunning views of turquoise waters, the Mokulua Islands, and the gorgeous white sands of Lanikai Beach. Once you reach the pillboxes, former military bunkers, pause to take in the breathtaking scenery and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

Head to Lanikai Beach after your hike for a soothing and peaceful beach experience. The beach features spotless sand and transparent waters, ideal for swimming and relaxing. 

Experience the fun world of pineapples at Dole Plantation, a renowned attraction in Oahu. Explore Hawaii's iconic fruit's rich history and cultivation, take a leisurely walk through the vibrant gardens, and hop on the Pineapple Express Train Tour for an informative tour of the plantation grounds. Make time for the Guinness World Record-holding Pineapple Garden Maze and treat yourself to delicious pineapple goodies like the famous Dole Whip. This beautiful tropical location provides an excellent combination of amusement, knowledge, and snacks infused with pineapple flavor.

My husband and I got married at Waimanalo Bay, a peaceful paradise known for its stunning blue waters and soft powdery sand. This beach is far from the crowds, offering a tranquil atmosphere where you can soak up the sun, take a leisurely swim, or enjoy a peaceful walk along the shore. With the Koʻolau Mountains in the background and the gentle ocean breeze, Waimanalo Bay is the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate.

Located on North Shore, Waimea Bay is famous for its massive waves during the winter season, drawing adventurous surfers worldwide. However, if you prefer not to surf, you can still appreciate the ocean's strength and magnificence by relaxing on the sandy beach and watching the most beautiful sunset. The water is calm in the summer, making it perfect for swimming and jumping off the iconic Waimea Bay Rock.

Explore the breathtaking beauty of the southeastern coastline of Oahu at Makapu'u Point and Lighthouse. Enjoy a scenic hike along the Makapu'u Lighthouse Trail, which leads to a lookout point offering stunning panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. Remember to watch humpback whales during their migration season (December to April) as they playfully jump and swim in the sparkling waters below.
